John Piper Invites Rick Warren to speak at 2010 Desiring God Conference
July 2010
For those of you who have not heard or are not aware, John Piper is at it again. At last year's Desiring God National Conference commemorating the 500th anniversary of John Calvin's birth, Piper had Federal Visionist Douglas Wilson speak. (See previous horror file.) The year he has invited Rick Warren of the Purpose-Driven Church movement to speak. Here is a video Piper made to explain why he invited Warren to speak - http://www.desiringgod.org/Blog/2323_more_details_about_our_national_conference/ (you will have to click on the video once on the page). Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them" (Matthew 7:15-200). Warren's fruit (his teaching) is evident in his books, despite what he says to Piper in a phone call. Is this a continuing loss of discernment? Why would Piper put wolves before the sheep and then justify it? Who will Piper invite next year?
